Events
Announcements about scholarly conferences, workshops, projects, and other events related to ritual. Please note that we do not edit event notices, and we will only post them if they include all the relevant information such as: title, date, place, e-mail contact, web site address (if any) or fees (if any). Since the webmasters (webmaster@ritualstudies.com) do not respond to viewers’ inquiries about events, you must ensure that notices tell readers how to contact event organizers.
How Virtual Is Reality?
We would like to call your attention to this year’s summer school “How Virtual is Reality?” (http://how-virtual-is-reality.eu/) held in Bremen, Germany, from July 30 to August 9th. The course is for graduate and postgraduate students, but undergraduates with experience in the field are also welcome to apply. The course is cooperatively organized by the University of Bremen and the Jacobs-University (Bremen) and will explore online environments such as “Second Life” and “World of Warcraft” with a focus on rituals and religions. Instructed by more than 10 international teachers, participants in the summer school will engage in the interdisciplinary study of practical, theoretical, and scientific approaches to ritual and media. The media will also serve as platform for academic exchange and teaching. After this summer school, participants should be able to design and conduct research projects on religion in virtual worlds. Event organizers: Kerstin Radde-Antweiler, Simone Heidbrink
